IN THE FIELD: Exit Stage Left

While I was stopped at a traffic light the other day, I looked to my right and happened to notice this doorway on the side of an old restaurant. It was in the middle of the wall with no steps leading down to the ground. Huh?

Luckily I was able to get a quick shot off just as the light turned green. As I was looking at the photo on the computer, I could see the outline of a set of steps on the side of the building. Why the steps are gone and the door remains functional, is a mystery.

Lately I seem to have developed the ability to discover objects with no clear meaning. Fences that do not enclose anything, signs that make no sense no matter how many times you read them, and doorways that lead to nowhere.

That first step is always a doozy! πŸ™‚

“Hey Joe, could you take out the trash…it’s faster if you use this door…heh heh heh”

      • September 24, 2013 at 9:18 am

LOL!!! Just don’t look down when you do

  2. September 24, 2013 at 8:44 am

Couldn’t drop in and visit, but you COULD drop out. Your mind is becoming an “odometer for the odd” (seeing how far the bizarre can take you)! πŸ™‚

*Let’s HOPE the door’s not “functional.”

    • September 24, 2013 at 9:15 am

I have been seeing some “unusual” things lately…I wonder if that has meaning…
It appears there is something piled up in front of the door…why not just block it off completely.

      • September 24, 2013 at 9:17 am

Short on funds, maybe (and high on risk-taking).

  3. September 24, 2013 at 12:12 pm

    That’s a rude awakening.

    • September 25, 2013 at 2:41 pm

      It sure would be…yeeowwwwww…..

An exit for unwanted tradesmen?? πŸ™‚ What is needed is an artist to come and paint some steps right up to the door, to really confuse people!

    • September 24, 2013 at 8:29 pm

OR (I can’t believe I’m saying this) the image of an unconscious body at the bottom of the wall.

      • September 24, 2013 at 8:49 pm

Maybe just someone stunned and on all-fours.

      • September 25, 2013 at 2:21 am

Gosh! We could have a whole crime scene going on there. David, what have you started??!!

      • September 25, 2013 at 2:51 pm

And even an ambulance peaking around the corner!

    • September 25, 2013 at 3:09 pm

There is no one in the WORLD who could do more with that space than the famous street artist BANKSY (scroll down the page to see many examples):

      • September 26, 2013 at 9:05 am

After viewing the photos from the link you sent, I do believe he could come up with something that would work…boy is that an understatement!

  5. September 24, 2013 at 4:36 pm

Ha, I sure hope that is bolted!

    • September 25, 2013 at 2:52 pm

I would hope so too…or else all of the above could occur!

Isn’t it interesting how buildings are altered over time? I used to see that a lot in New England – doorways to the open air on upper stories, former doorways, windows and archways bricked up with new floors cutting across the middle of them. It makes me think of a science fiction story I read once, set in a future where private automobiles had been banned and parking garages converted into low-income housing. All the apartments had slanted floors! πŸ™‚

    • September 25, 2013 at 2:55 pm

It seems to happen a lot doesn’t it. Slanted floors sure would make it hard to play board games with marbles! Or cooking would be a challenge…all the ingredients would slide to one side of the pan!

Fun picture and even more fun comment section πŸ™‚

That’s for sure! I had a blast reading the banter between readers. Humor is a great thing!

I love it! You do seem to have an eye for such strange sights (sites) at present. I’m enjoying them πŸ™‚

    • September 28, 2013 at 1:33 pm

Glad you are enjoying these quirky things I come across…there will be more! I saw another this morning but it wouldn’t photograph well. I was at the gas station and there was a sign that read “Turn off cell phones while dispensing fuel.” About five feet away was another sign that read “If you are having problems dispensing fuel, please call @@@-@@@-@@@
      or push the red button.”

πŸ™‚ Wonderful! Keep them coming. They make me smile!

once you spot one odd thing, suddenly you start noticing more and more weird things around you πŸ™‚

Isn’t that the truth! Looks like around here I have plenty of subject matter LOL.
