IN THE FIELD: Do You See What I See?
For centuries man has looked up at the night sky and has associated mythical creatures, animals and objects we are familiar with, to the patterns of the stars.
There are a few constellations where I can see the resemblance to what they were named for. Others, well…the folks that named them must have been exposed to large amounts of fermented food or drink, because I don’t see anything close to what they imagined.
I have often wondered why we can look at something we are accustomed to, and at times, see something completely different.
Ever hear someone say something along these lines…“hey look at that cloud…doesn’t it look like a rabbit pulling an ox cart?” Or how about, “wow, will ya look at that…the edge of that cliff looks like an old man carrying a canoe on his back while walking a penguin.” Or in extreme cases, some folks see, and pay big money for an image of someone famous on a piece of burnt toast. Hello, clue phone???
All philosophical discussions aside, what is it that you see in this wacky strawberry?
An upside down cow udder? If I could eat them I don’t think I’d want to chomp on that alien creature. Good eye!
Now that’s one I didn’t think of! This variety of strawberry bears huge berries and all kinds of goofy shapes. It’s called Cabot. They are great for home gardens.
A couple… as if they are dancing, romantic dance… 🙂
Wonderful photograph… Thank you dear David, have a nice weekend, love, nia
Wow I would not have thought of that one either….you’re so romantic Nia. Have a great weekend too!!!
A couple kissing…
Jeez, from all these comments I should have given this an “R” rating!
Cerberus.
Beautiful, rich colors! 🙂
Cerberus…interesting. The berry is after all close to the ground/underworld. It’s remarkable what we all see!!
I see lovers cuddling and whispering sweet nothings to each other.
Don’t they say you interpret things based on how you see your own life? Or something like that…
Love the photo and the humor on your post, David. A very good read for a quiet morning.
Yup, should have made this an “R” rating. Glad you enjoyed this one Gracie! I try to make Friday’s a little lighter for the weekend. Never saw the old man with the canoe huh?
Cuddling couple! 🙂
My oh my this is a popular vision!!!
🙂
A moose! (Strawberry moose 🙂 ).
Funny…Strawberry moose…yuummmy! A moose, a moose, I saw a moose too!!!
The one from the right part resembles to a reindeer.
Somehow, seems to be like the one from this picture : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Reindeer_in_Kebnekaise.jpg
Reindeer/moose they are kinda related!!! I saw a moose too!
Speaking of witch, do you have there wild animals?
Do you take pictures of them too, or isn’t your job?
Any way, very nice photo. 🙂
As usually.
Thanks Cornel, I saw this when I was running for cover from the rain shower. When It stopped raining, I went back to find it…It took awhile but I found it!
the truth? First, as I scrolled down, testicles. Then bowling pins. Need I say more?
Jane…that is just too funny!!!
I just keep thinking, “very odd…very, very odd.”
Anyway, great photo! The red color is so luscious and rich.
Odd for sure…the folks at the orchard said this variety produces some pretty strange shapes. They are very tasty though!!!
First of all, the color is delicious. Second, I see a moose! And I guess I’m not the only one. 🙂
Delicious is the correct word to describe these, and a moose is leading the way!!!
Siamese red shmoos. They look delicious!
Shmoos…that’s funny!!! I had to look up what they are….oh, and they are delicious. They grow a bunch of varieties and each one has a slightly different flavor or level of sweetness!
Mini Mouse perhaps? I just don’t know. Fascinating picture. They look really sweet and tasty.
Mini Mouse…another good one! Oh my gosh you just can’t beat right off the vine…they are so good. There may be another week or two before they are gone…deep sigh…then it’s blueberries, raspberries, pie cherries, then peaches!!!
I guess I can see 3 or 4 children playing ‘peek a bo’ around the green tuft of bracts! Don’t think I would examine it for long though, it looks too delicious!
That’s a good one!!! I have had some of this variety…they are huge and super juicy!!!
I like some of the suggestions, but I actually thought moose too or a deer. I see there are quite a bit of romantics here! I like what they saw and isn’t funny how once we hear what someone else saw we can now see it?! Interesting. Great picture. ~Patty
My first impression was a moose also, and I didn’t even think anything romantic until reading what others saw. Very curious how we all see something different. Thanks Patty!
I can see three little chicks, or maybe some other baby birds asking for some food:)
I can see that too. I find it amazing what folks see in things! Thanks for stopping by!!!
Perhaps…an old couple walking holding hands…to support each other.. 🙂
Perfect post, David. Loved it.
Aww that’s sweet…no pun intended. Glad you enjoyed it Nandini!!!
¡Esto es una belleza, llena de color! me encantó
Yes they are full of color…and flavor!!!
Lol – very strange, but I’m sure delicious. Strawberries are my favorite!
