IN THE FIELD: What’s Up?
Hello everyone! I am sure by now you have noticed I haven’t had much of a presence in the blogosphere for the last month or so.
I haven’t been bonked on the head by a tree in the forest, or consumed be an exotic greenhouse plant, or even been captured by some rusty old relic.
Everything is fine and I’m okay. I’ve had to take a self-imposed sabbatical to take care of some family matters which are consuming most of my time.
For the next month or so, my posting, viewing your posts, and commenting will be sporadic at best. Things should settle down after the beginning of next year and be back to normal. Or at least my definition of normality. Then I will have the luxury of time to catch up on all of your stories and wonderful photography.
We were about ready to send the hounds out to find you 😉 Good luck with everything you have to do.
Don’t worry, I haven’t gone into hiding…just real busy. My wife and I have a lot to accomplish in one month but I’m sure everything will work out.
Good luck with it all and happy holidays!
Thank you Saffron! And during Christmas too!
Spend the precious time with your wife and family, be happy and grateful for all your blessings. Look forward to your sharing and photos . Merry Christmas!
Thank you Jane, wife and family are the most important things in life. And Merry Christmas to you also!
Well I hope all is well David!
All is well MD, just have so stuff to take care of. Explanations are forthcoming…can’t wait to tell!
Did miss you and will continue to miss you for the foreseeable future. I hope you get everything done that you need to and come back to the blogosphere energised and raring to go.
Thank yo Kate for the kind words…and I can’t wait to get back in the swing of things. I miss you all so much but no worries…I be back before you know it!
Glad to hear all is well. That’s life for you…sometimes things come up that require all our attention. Here’s hoping all your endeavors have positive outcomes. Thanks for this glimpse of spring…and happy holidays!
Everything is fine Lee, this is just another adventure for my wife and myself…and the two pups. The adventure is a positive outcome…details in the future. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Hi David
Was wondering where you were. Glad all is ok. I know how family matters come first! Hopefully things will work out soon. Enjoy the holiday:)
We’re ok here Vickie, and everything will be fine. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Have a lovely Christmas!
Thank you Meanderer, and a lovely, joyous Christmas to you and your family !!!
Very best wishes to you, David, and I hope that you and Sharon have enough time to enjoy a wonderful Christmas. We look forward to more of your wonderful photos when time allows!
Thank you Jo, With everything in store, we will make time to relax and enjoy the Christmas spirit. And I look forward to seeing everyone’s photos and reading the stories that go along with them. I miss you all ! Merry Christmas to you, Colin and the girls!
I read “what’s up” and then my eyes glanced the photo, and of course the flowers. As if my brain resisted the urge to look in the direction these flowers asked me to. If I had done that, I would be staring at the ceiling. Instantly, it made me smile. 🙂
Loved this photo, David. I hope you finish everything on time. All the best.
Nandini, you always bring a smile to me with your comments, and I’m glad to bring a smile to you. We’re hoping everything falls into place at the right time. We’ll see!
And most of the times, if we are hopeful, everything does fall into place at the right time. Just an observation. 🙂
Sometimes we need a little time to rest – blessings, Patty
Rest is something I/we are looking forward too. The next few weeks will be really really hectic!
Christmas blessings – and rest after the hustle and bustle!
Life can sometimes get very busy and a sabbatical is needed. Have a wonderful Christmas with your family.
Thanks Karen, a rest is well deserved…but it will have to wait several weeks. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Enjoy a restful sabbatical, David. I’ll miss your posts until you’re back full-swing. If one of those dramatic things in your second sentence HAD happened, think of the POSTS you would have had (except for the “consumed by” one–hard to post anything from the belly of a plant).
I / we can’t wait for the rest period…after the new year things should settle down. Whew. I wish you a wonderful joyous Christmas for you and your family!
And to you and yours, my photography-loving, field-loving, flower-loving friend.
Enjoy the Sabbatical, David, I’m sure your followers will still be here when you get back 🙂
Have a beautiful Christmas and may the new year bring you lots of blessings.
Thanks for the kind words Gracie…I can’t wait to see what all of you folks have been up to!
To you and your family….Have a wonderful joyous Christmas and good health and fortunes in the new year!
Everyone will still be here when you come back 🙂 Enjoy the festive season! 🙂
I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. We will be packing up our house over the Christmas Holiday…we’re moving!!! Merry Christmas to you and your family Kristina!!!
Thanks David, the same to you! 🙂 Hope the move goes well!
I was missing you and am very glad to know that it is just being very busy getting ready for your move. Now that is hard work! I’ll look forward to your posts again when you are in and settled. Have a good Christmas, a Happy New Year and may you be very happy in your New Home! 🙂
Thank you for the kind words MBT! Now we just have to pack up a 4 bedroom home in less than 2 weeks so we can be out by Jan 3! Whew it’ll be tough but we’ll get it done. We’ll have to celebrate the holidays in January or February sometime after we are settled in a bit.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Nia !!!! We have moved to a new home also…it took nine hours yesterday to move all our things!!! Now we have to unpack…most will remain in storage since we are living in a smaller place.
Good Luck in your new home dear David. Thank you for being one of my best followers and commenters, you are so nice. Blessing and Happiness, Love, nia
May your move be as easy as the one we just had from 2012 to 2013.
Thanks Steve, it was a long day yesterday…it took the movers nine+ hours to load and unload. Most of our things will remain packed up in the basement until we find a permanent home. We are renting a one story carriage home for now, and I really thing this one floor living will suit us quite nicely! Plus we are now closer to civilization LOL. It’s only two miles to a gas station and grocery store vs 17 miles and 25 minutes to amenities.YAY!!
Beautiful flowers!!! Great shot!!!
Thanks Rexlin, this shot was taken in an arboretum nearby this past spring. Can’t wait to get back out there!
I have missed your posts, David! I hope all is well and you are able to go back to normal routines soon.
Thank you Karen…I have missed all of you folks too. Things are settled down a bit in our temporary home…I really really can’t wait to get my hands on my camera. We have some super views now…and can see the…sky…we have moved from the woods to the valley below. As soon as we have some evenings without constant cloud cover, I’ll get some shots taken from the deck of the sunset and town below us.
Best of luck with the adjustment to the new home, David. I hope you’re back to your old routines sooner than later.
Hey thanks Kerry! Our temporary digs are working out so far…a reduction of 1000 sq. ft. really does make a difference…but we are managing. The home search will begin in a month or so…yippee! There is a winter storm coming this way tomorrow (can you believe the weather channel names them now?) and I’ll have the camera out for sure with some photos to share with everyone out there in wordpress world. I really miss you guys!
Hi David…was just checking in to see if you were back. I’ve been away from blogland myself for most of the past month. Hope you’re feeling comfortable in your new (temporary) home and that you’ll soon have a chance to show us around your new area. Take care! ~Lee
Hi Lee, thanks for checking in to see where I have been! Things on the home front have settled down for the most part. Blogland and photography took an unfortunate back seat…my right forefinger has been itching to connect with the shutter button. So, I went out last weekend after a small snow storm and braved the wind chills of 11degrees. I think I managed to get a few photos worth posting…time to review them and come up with some creative writing/how to/in the field techniques. Be seeing you soon!!!
I am glad to hear you dear David, I was thinking of you yesterday. We miss you all I think. Blessing and Happiness, love, nia
Yes good to hear that things are settling down for you.. Looking forward to seeing your new photos soon!
Hey Marcus! Great to hear from you too! It’s been crazy…changing jobs, moving from 2700 sq ft home to temporary 1700 sq ft rental digs…still looking for a permanent home, moving mother in law to assisted living, etc etc. I haven’t had much time to follow my passion…but great news is ahead. I’ll be in heaven working in a garden center sometime around the 15th of March! I should be able to find something to photograph there…
We are waiting you and your photos! 🙂 Take your time.
We’ll be here.
We are waiting, David. 🙂
Just checking in to make sure all is well. Seems from your comment above that life is very, very busy! I’ll look forward to your posts again when you have time again.
All the best to you and yours 🙂
David–Just spotted your name in my very own blogroll and decided to check up on you. Any chance we’ll be getting “Field” reports anytime soon? Miss you! –John
Hi John,
Field reports will be coming this week. Besides everything else that has been going on, moving mother in law to assisted living, selling our house and moving to temporary digs, me changing jobs, and also me being in the hospital for six days last week (removal of enormous kidney stone in my left kidney) things are getting back to normal.
Stay tuned…I really miss you guys!!!
David
Oh, is THAT all. 🙂 I hope you have a really BORING spring (except for photography).
–John
Beautiful!!
Thanks Polly…Spring last year…hope this year is as nice!!!
